Terms of Service & Publication Policy

My Knitting Era  —  myknittingera.com
Effective date: July 6, 2026
Business operated by: Christine Rodriguez, a sole proprietor doing business as “My Knitting Era” (“I,” “me,” “we,” or “us”).

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using myknittingera.com (the “Site”). The Site includes blog content, knitting patterns and tutorials, an online store, an email newsletter, and areas where visitors can comment or submit content. By accessing or using the Site, creating an account, subscribing to the newsletter, submitting a comment, or purchasing a product, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to make a purchase or create an account. Visitors under 13 may not submit comments, photos, or any personal information to the Site, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Visitors between 13 and 18 may browse and comment only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

2. Site Content and Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise noted, all content on the Site — including blog posts, knitting patterns, charts, photographs, graphics, logos, and the “My Knitting Era” name and branding — is owned by me or licensed to me, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

  • View, print, and use a purchased or free pattern for your own personal, non-commercial knitting projects.
  • Share a link to a blog post or pattern page on social media or elsewhere, with proper credit and a link back to the Site.

You may not, without prior written permission:

  • Reproduce, resell, redistribute, or republish patterns, photos, or written content, in whole or in part, on another website, in print, or as your own work.
  • Use patterns for commercial production or mass manufacture of finished items for sale (small-batch, handmade sales of individual finished items made from a purchased pattern are generally permitted — contact me if you are unsure).
  • Remove copyright notices, watermarks, or attribution from any Site content.

If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, contact me at the address in Section 13 with a description of the work and its location.

3. Publication Policy: Comments and User-Submitted Content

The Site may allow visitors to leave comments, submit photos of finished projects, or share other content (“User Content”). This section explains the rules for that content.

3.1 License You Grant

By submitting User Content, you grant me a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to display, reproduce, and share that content on the Site and in related promotional materials (such as social media posts), with credit to you where reasonably practical. You retain ownership of your own content and can request its removal at any time (see Section 3.4).

3.2 Submission Guidelines

User Content must not:

  • Infringe someone else’s copyright, trademark, or other rights (for example, photos of a pattern that is not yours to share, or someone else’s design).
  • Contain spam, advertising, solicitation, or links unrelated to the discussion.
  • Be abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate.
  • Contain another person’s personal information without their consent.
  • Contain malicious code, malware, or attempts to compromise the Site.

3.3 Moderation

I moderate comments and submissions at my discretion. I may edit, decline to publish, or remove any User Content for any reason, including violation of these guidelines, without notice. I am not obligated to publish, respond to, or monitor every submission.

3.4 Removal Requests

If you would like a comment, photo, or other submission removed, email me at the address in Section 13 with a description and location of the content, and I will address the request promptly.

4. Products, Orders, and Payment

The Site sells knitting patterns (digital downloads), and may sell yarn or other physical goods. The following applies to purchases:

  • Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and may change at any time without notice; the price charged is the price displayed at checkout.
  • Payments are processed by third-party payment processors (for example, a platform such as PayPal, Stripe, Square, or Shopify Payments). I do not store your full payment card details — see the Privacy Policy for more detail.
  • Digital products (patterns and PDFs) are delivered electronically, typically by email or instant download, after payment is confirmed.
  • Physical products (such as yarn or kits) are shipped to the address you provide; shipping times and costs are estimates and are not guaranteed.
  • Due to the nature of digital goods, digital pattern purchases are generally non-refundable once downloaded, except where required by law or at my discretion for a demonstrated technical issue. Physical, unused goods may be returned within a reasonable period — contact me to arrange a return.
  • I reserve the right to refuse, limit, or cancel any order, including in cases of suspected fraud or pricing errors.

5. Affiliate Links and Advertising

The Site may contain affiliate links (for example, to yarn, tools, or books on retailer sites such as Amazon), meaning I may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases made through those links, at no additional cost to you. The Site may also display third-party advertisements served through ad networks. I only recommend products I believe are relevant to readers, but I do not guarantee any product, service, or third-party site linked from myknittingera.com.

6. Links to Other Websites

The Site may link to third-party websites for convenience or reference. I do not control and am not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party site. Visiting a linked site is at your own risk.

7. Disclaimers

The Site, its content, and all patterns and tutorials are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. I make reasonable efforts to ensure patterns and instructions are accurate and tested, but I do not guarantee that any pattern is error-free, suitable for a particular yarn or gauge, or will produce a specific result. Knitting projects involve individual skill, materials, and technique, and results may vary. The Site does not provide professional, safety, or product-liability advice regarding materials or tools.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of materials, time, or data, arising from your use of the Site, reliance on any pattern or content, or any product purchased through the Site. My total liability for any claim relating to the Site or a purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for the product or service giving rise to the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold me harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your User Content, or your misuse of the Site.

10. Termination

I may suspend or terminate your access to the Site, comment privileges, or account at any time, for any reason, including violation of these Terms, without prior notice.

11. Changes to These Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes may also be noted on the Site or communicated via the email newsletter.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction of residence (for example, for consumers located in the European Union or United Kingdom).
