Some of my favorite knitting projects are the ones that bring together two things I love: yarn and books. This miniature book-stack bookmark does exactly that.

A Tiny Stack of Stories
At one end of this hand-knitted bookmark sits a little stack of colorful books, complete with contrasting covers and light-colored page edges. A long, deep-red braided cord ends in a tassel, creating a practical bookmark with a playful, literary twist.
I knit the miniature books with cotton embroidery floss, working on a scale where every stitch counts. The small details take patience, but that is part of the fun of making something meant to brighten another reader’s day.

Made for Your Next Chapter
Slip the cord between the pages to mark your place and let the tiny stack of books peek out when your reading session is over. It’s an especially charming companion for a novel, a reading journal, or a book-club pick.
I think handmade bookmarks make lovely little gifts for bookworms, librarians, teachers, reading buddies, and anyone who keeps saying, “Just one more chapter.”
